Cambodia views digital technology as a vehicle to leapfrog modernization and boost economic growth, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Vongsey Vissoth said Friday at the opening of the Digital Government Forum 2025.
Vissoth said rapid advances in artificial intelligence have penetrated all layers of society, bringing efficiency and productivity but also risks. “Technology has become a defining factor in determining the competitive advantage and even the destiny of nations,” he said, warning that late or misdirected adoption could widen development gaps.
He said the government is increasing investment to build a digital ecosystem while tackling challenges such as cybercrime and online scams.
Post and Telecommunications Minister Chea Vandeth told the forum Cambodia will launch 5G mobile services in early 2026. He said 4G coverage already reaches 94.7 percent of the population.
