China Eastern Airlines on Thursday inaugurated the first direct air route between China and Argentina, with flight MU745 landing in Buenos Aires after more than 25 hours in the air.
The flight departed Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 2:19 a.m. Beijing time, made a two‑hour stop in Auckland, New Zealand, and arrived at Ezeiza International Airport in the afternoon.
Covering more than 20,000 kilometers, the new service set a record for the world’s longest one‑way flight.
China Eastern said it will operate two round‑trip flights weekly, departing Shanghai on Mondays and Thursdays and returning from Buenos Aires on Tuesdays and Fridays.
