Cannabis is the most commonly used psychotropic substance in both Cyprus and Europe, according to the European Online Survey on Drugs 2024 (EWSD), published by the European Union Agency for Drugs and Drug Abuse (EUDA).

The Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority reported that the survey, conducted online from May to July 2024, involved 66,000 adults from 31 European countries, including 628 participants from Cyprus.

The Cypriot participants were evenly split between men and women, with 72% aged 18 to 35.

The findings for Cyprus align with the European results, showing cannabis as the most widely used substance.

Polydrug use is also on the rise.

In Cyprus, 12% of respondents reported using cannabis, followed by 4% for cocaine and 3% for MDMA/ecstasy.

Additionally, 9% reported using CBD and/or low-THC products in the past year.
