Car of Game Warden Torched in Geroskipou; Police Probe Possible Link to Poaching Rings

Police are investigating an arson attack that destroyed the personal vehicle of a 46‑year‑old game warden in Geroskipou early Monday, in what authorities say may be connected to organized poaching activity in the Paphos district.

The fire broke out around 3:40 a.m. while the double‑cab truck was parked in the yard of the warden’s home. Firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle sustained extensive damage.

Officers from the Paphos CID cordoned off the area and launched an investigation aimed at identifying and arresting those responsible. Authorities believe the attack may be linked to illegal hunting networks that have long targeted wildlife in the region.

Initial findings indicate the fire started at the front of the vehicle before spreading to the interior.
