President Nikos Christodoulides plans to make a new tour of the United States later this year aimed at attracting investment to Cyprus.
He made the remarks during a morning meeting with a group of U.S. members of Congress.
Welcoming the American officials, Christodoulides expressed strong satisfaction with the results of his first U.S. tour and said his next visit would include additional regions.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening what they described as already excellent relations between Cyprus and the United States, particularly in defense, security and political dialogue.
The U.S. officials praised Cyprus’ role in the region and its position as a link between East and West. They said it was important for the United States to have Cyprus as a partner and friend.
The senators also highlighted Christodoulides’ leadership role within the European Union, adding that they considered the United States fortunate to have him as President of the Republic of Cyprus at this time.
