Cyprus is targeting its first sale of domestically sourced natural gas to Europe by 2027 or 2028 via Egypt, President Nikos Christodoulides has said.
Speaking after taking part in the “Run for Autism” charity race in Ayia Napa, Christodoulides told reporters that his upcoming visit to Egypt on Monday will focus exclusively on energy cooperation.
Asked whether developments are expected regarding the “Cronos” gas discovery, the president said the trip is tied to broader energy planning. He noted that Cyprus’ first offshore gas find was made in 2011, yet more than a decade has passed without commercial exploitation.
Christodoulides added that accelerating development remains a national priority.
