A vessel from the international flotilla bound for Gaza docked at Larnaca port on Thursday, according to Cypriot government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Mr Letymbiotis said the vessel was carrying 21 people from various countries. Authorities carried out standard checks and provided for the passengers’ basic needs.
Medical assistance was offered to two individuals on board, though hospitalisation was not required, according to public broadcaster RIK.
Mr Letymbiotis said Cyprus acted promptly, guided by the protection of human life and respect for international law.
The vessel is expected to refuel before continuing its journey to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Speaking on the programme Apo Mera se Mera, Mr Letymbiotis added that Cyprus remains prepared to respond to similar requests. Another docking request from a flotilla vessel may be submitted later in the day, he said.
