A 23-year-old man was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court for drug trafficking.

The conviction follows his trial for importing and possessing 11 kilograms and 32 grams of cannabis with intent to supply.

The drugs were discovered on October 10, 2024, during a coordinated Anti-Narcotics Service (YKAN) operation in Larnaca. Acting on intelligence, CYPD officers intercepted the suspect’s vehicle on the highway near Kalo Chorio and found the cannabis.

The case, investigated by the Larnaca Provincial Police, was swiftly brought to trial, resulting in today’s sentencing. This verdict highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
