Cyprus — Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides expressed solidarity with Qatar in a phone call with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following recent violations of Qatari sovereignty.
Government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said Christodoulides condemned the breach and called it a serious threat to regional stability and a violation of international law.
Christodoulides also praised Qatar’s role in mediation efforts with the United States and Egypt to secure a cease-fire in Gaza and promote peace in the region.
The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties and Cyprus’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union.
