FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A road collision near Dipotamos dam in the Kato Lefkara area resulted in the death of 51-year-old Romanian citizen George Remus Strunoiou, police said Sunday.
The accident occurred around 2:20 p.m. when a 66-year-old man attempted to move his vehicle to provide power to another stationary car using cables. Under unclear circumstances, he struck and injured the 51-year-old owner of the second vehicle.
The 66-year-old left the scene temporarily to seek help, returning with two others to assist the injured man.
Emergency services transported Strunoiou to Nicosia General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.
Police arrested the 66-year-old, who tested negative for alcohol and drugs. After questioning, he was released but will be summoned later. Larnaca Traffic Police are continuing their investigation.
