FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The trial of a 44-year-old nurse accused of murdering nine patients and attempting to kill 34 others begins Monday in North Rhine-Westphalia. Prosecutors allege the crimes occurred over six months, from December 2023 to May 2024, at the Rhein-Maas Klinikum in Würselen.
The nurse is accused of administering heavy sedatives, sometimes combined with painkillers, to palliative care patients, with some victims exposed multiple times. Investigators believe the motive was to ensure quieter night shifts.
The case, described as one of Germany’s largest medical murder trials, has drawn significant attention, highlighting concerns about patient safety in healthcare facilities.
