Cyprus Industrial Turnover Index Up 4.9% in December

Cyprus’ Industrial Turnover Index rose 4.9% in December compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics service has said.

The index reached 139.8 points (2021=100). For the full year, turnover increased 5.0% from 2024.

Manufacturing posted a 7.1% annual increase in December, while mining and quarrying rose 6.0%. Turnover fell 6.8% in water supply and materials recovery and 3.8% in electricity supply.

Within manufacturing, the strongest annual gains were recorded in machinery and transport equipment (up 42.8%), wood products (23.8%), and furniture and other manufacturing (17.0%). Declines were reported in electronic and electrical equipment (down 21.6%) and non‑metallic mineral products (down 5.9%).

The domestic market index rose 4.4% year‑on‑year, while the export index increased 7.9%.

The Industrial Turnover Index tracks monthly changes in sales across mining, manufacturing, electricity supply, water supply and materials recovery. Data collection begins within two weeks after the end of each reference month and covers enterprises with annual turnover of at least €2 million or 20 or more employees, with sampling used for smaller firms.
