FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Department of Meteorology issued a yellow warning Friday for dangerously high temperatures expected across the island.
The alert is in effect from noon to 5 p.m. local time.
Forecasters said temperatures in inland areas could reach 41 degrees Celsius (106 Fahrenheit), while mountainous regions may see highs of 32 degrees Celsius (90 Fahrenheit).
Authorities urged residents to take precautions, especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly and young children.
