A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region, bringing mostly clear skies and soaring temperatures across Cyprus.
On Friday, skies will remain mostly sunny, though areas of low cloud cover may appear locally. Winds in the morning will be light and variable, around 3 on the Beaufort scale, shifting later to southwesterly to northwesterly at light to moderate strength, 3 to 4 Beaufort. Coastal areas may experience occasional moderate to strong winds, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort. Seas will be generally calm to slightly choppy.
Temperatures are expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius (106 Fahrenheit) inland, around 35 degrees Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) along the southeastern, southern and northern coasts, and approximately 32 degrees Celsius (90 Fahrenheit) in the west, southwest and higher elevations.
Tonight, conditions will remain mostly clear with localized low clouds. Patchy fog or mist may form during the early morning hours, particularly in southern and eastern areas. Winds will continue from the southwest to northwest, later becoming variable and light at 3 Beaufort. Seas will remain calm to slightly choppy. Overnight lows will drop to around 23 degrees Celsius (73 Fahrenheit) inland, 24 degrees Celsius (75 Fahrenheit) along the coast, and 21 degrees Celsius (70 Fahrenheit) in the mountains.
Looking ahead to Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the weather is expected to stay mostly clear, with occasional increases in cloud cover. Fog or mist may develop overnight and into the early morning, especially in southern, eastern and inland regions.
Temperatures on Saturday are not expected to change significantly, remaining above seasonal averages. However, a gradual cooling trend is forecast to begin Sunday, bringing temperatures closer to climatological norms by Monday.
