FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Cyprus Peace Council will host a solidarity march on Sunday, June 15, as part of the international March to Gaza and Freedom Flotilla Coalition initiative. The demonstration, set for 6 p.m. at Limassol’s pier, is part of a global movement calling for an end to Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Organizers aim to amplify international solidarity, urging citizens and peace organizations to join activists from around the world in voicing support for Palestinians.
In a statement, the Cyprus Peace Council sent a “strong message of solidarity” to the Palestinian people, particularly those in Gaza, while condemning what it described as Israel’s “genocidal policies.”
The council also called for urgent humanitarian intervention to aid those suffering from hunger and demanded an end to the occupation and settlement of Palestinian territories.
The council criticized the Cypriot government for its alleged support of Israel and denounced an upcoming Israeli real estate conference scheduled to take place in Limassol from June 18 to 20. Organizers of the march labeled the event “provocative,” accusing it of promoting Israeli investments in Cyprus amid the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
