Starting Tuesday, Cyprus Police will roll out a nationwide awareness and enforcement campaign targeting distracted driving, particularly the use of mobile phones or other objects while driving without free hands.
The traffic checks will run through Sunday, October 12.
Between 2022 and 2024, distracted driving was the leading cause of serious and fatal road accidents in Cyprus, accounting for 21.4% of road deaths and 24.3% of serious injuries.
