FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – — Police are urging students and parents to be cautious following reports of fraudulent emails demanding tuition payments.
The emails, sent in bulk to university students, claim recipients owe fees to private institutions and direct them to transfer money to specific bank accounts, according to a statement from the Cyprus Police.
Authorities said the practice is not typical of legitimate universities and advised recipients not to make any payments.
Police encouraged students to contact their educational institutions directly and report suspicious messages.
Complaints were filed with the Cybercrime Division by both schools and individuals, officials said.
