Cyprus police have received new reports of a phone scam in which callers pretend to represent an online financial‑services and payments platform. The aim, officers say, is to steal personal data and withdraw money from victims’ bank accounts.
According to today’s complaints, the calls come from foreign numbers and use an automated voice system. The recording instructs people to press specific numbers on their keypad to “confirm” or “approve” supposed transactions or payments linked to their account.
Police say the calls are fraudulent and urge the public to be extremely cautious. Anyone expecting to complete an online transaction is advised to verify any call or message through the official contact channels of the organisation involved before taking any action.
