Cyprus police are urging the public to be on alert after receiving multiple complaints about a scam in which callers pose as representatives of an online bank during video calls in an attempt to steal money from victims’ accounts.
The Cybercrime Unit said offenders contact citizens through messaging apps and falsely claim to be employees of the digital banking platform Revolut. During the calls, they attempt to obtain access codes, PINs, account details or other sensitive information.
Police advised the public not to respond to such calls or follow any instructions given by the scammers. They also urged citizens never to disclose passwords, one‑time codes, identity details or card information, and to verify any communication with banks through official customer‑support channels.
Anyone who has already shared banking information during such a call should immediately notify their bank so protective measures can be taken, authorities said.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
