Cyprus recorded a budget surplus equal to 4% of its gross domestic product in the fourth quarter of 2025, while the European Union as a whole posted a deficit of 3.2% of GDP, according to new Eurostat data.
Eurostat said Cyprus maintained a positive fiscal balance throughout 2025. The fourth‑quarter surplus was unchanged from the same period in 2024, while on a quarterly basis it rose by 1.2 percentage points.
In the eurozone, the seasonally adjusted general‑government deficit stood at 3% of GDP in the fourth quarter of 2025, slightly lower than the 3.1% recorded in the third quarter.
