Cyprus’ president expressed sorrow Friday over the death of Kostas Gavriilidis, co‑founder of Accept Cyprus and a prominent advocate for human rights, diversity and social inclusion.
In a written statement, President Nikos Christodoulides said Gavriilidis’ public work and activism played a meaningful role in advancing dialogue on human rights and respect for diversity within the Republic of Cyprus.
He said Gavriilidis’ contribution was marked by consistency, courage and a firm commitment to principles that strengthened the country’s democratic fabric and helped cultivate a culture of acceptance and mutual respect. His efforts, the president added, opened new avenues of discussion and understanding on issues related to human dignity.
Christodoulides extended his condolences to Gavriilidis’ family, loved ones and colleagues.
