President Nikos Christodoulides has said he will announce new measures this week to address the energy crisis and rising prices.
Christodoulides also commented on reports that the U.N. secretary‑general may present a framework for a Cyprus settlement before the end of his term.
He said it was “not positive” that details from Monday’s National Council meeting had appeared in the press, adding that some of the leaked information was accurate and should have remained confidential. Christodoulides said the U.N. chief showed “clear political will” during their recent meeting and that efforts to restart talks began the following day.
On domestic issues, Christodoulides said more than €100 million in government measures are already in place to ease the impact of high energy costs. He said he held further discussions with the finance minister on Sunday and will address the public on Thursday with specific announcements.
