President Nikos Christodoulides is meeting UN Secretary‑General António Guterres in Brussels later, on the sidelines of the European Council, in a bid to reaffirm his commitment to restarting Cyprus reunification talks.
Before the meeting with Guterres, Christodoulides will hold talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Their discussion is expected to cover developments in the Cyprus issue, regional matters and the outbreak of foot‑and‑mouth disease, including support measures for affected sectors.
The president will also take part in the Tripartite Social Summit alongside the heads of the European Council and the European Commission, in his capacity as leader of the EU member state currently holding the Council presidency.
