Cyprus Producer Price Index Rises 1.1% in February

Cyprus’ industrial producer price index rose 1.1% in February compared with the same month last year, reaching 122.9 points (2021=100), the Statistical Service has said.

The index increased 0.2% from January, while for the January–February period it was up 0.9% from a year earlier.

Compared with January, prices were unchanged in mining and quarrying and in water supply and materials recovery.

Manufacturing rose 0.3%, while electricity supply fell 0.3%.

On an annual basis, all sectors recorded increases: mining and quarrying 4.4%, manufacturing 1.2%, water supply and materials recovery 1.2% and electricity supply 0.5%.

Within manufacturing, annual increases were recorded in furniture and other manufacturing activities (6.3%), electronic and optical products (2.9%), machinery, vehicles and transport equipment (1.1%), non‑metallic mineral products (0.9%) and food, beverages and tobacco (0.8%). Declines were noted in basic metals and metal products (‑0.3%) and paper and printing (‑0.1%).

The index is compiled monthly under EU Regulation 2019/2152 and sent to Eurostat.
