Seasonal infections continue to be on the rise in Cyprus, causing an increased influx of patients to public and private hospitals.
Yesterday, the death of a two-month-old infant with serious underlying diseases, who was hospitalized with the main cause of RSV in the Children’s Intensive Care Unit of Makarios Hospital.
As of Wednesday, a total of 12 deaths have occurred, 10 from influenza and 2 from RSV.
The vulnerable groups and the elderly can, even now, be vaccinated against the flu and COVID-19 viruses.
Hospital occupancy in Cyprus has exceeded 90% with patients hospitalized with coronavirus, flu and seasonal infections.
