Cyprus signs defense agreement with Jordan

FILE: Cyprus-Greece-Jordan Trilateral Summit – Private meeting between the three leaders Presidential Palace, Lefkosia, Cyprus The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, at a private meeting with the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Abdullah II, , in the framework of Cyprus-Greece-Jordan Trilateral Summit.

Cypriot Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas has met with the Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Major General Yousef Ahmad Al-Hunaiti, within the framework of his visit to Jordan.

The meeting discussed developments in the international arena, as well as the security situation in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region and the consequences of the ongoing conflict in Israel.  A defense cooperation agreement was also signed between the two countries.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, it was also stated that Palmas met with King Abdullah of Jordan during his stay in Amman and conveyed his commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in defense and security matters.

The meeting between Palmas and the Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Major General Yousef Ahmad Al-Hunaiti, reaffirmed the good level of relations between the two countries and the historical ties that bind the two peoples, as well as the cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense and security within the framework of the trilateral mechanism with Greece.
