Sixty people residing illegally in Cyprus were identified and arrested on Tuesday by the Aliens and Immigration Service in Nicosia.

The operation is part of specific actions by the police, the Municipality of Nicosia, and other state services, initiated by Minister of Justice Marios Hartsiotis, to enhance security within the walls of Nicosia.

Members of the police conducted searches in various areas of the capital.

As a result of the investigations, 60 third-country nationals were identified and arrested for residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.

Nineteen of those arrested have already departed from Cyprus for their countries of origin, while repatriation procedures for the remaining individuals are ongoing.
