FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A Greek Cypriot swimmer was found unresponsive Monday morning in the sea off Finikoudes Beach and later pronounced dead at Larnaca General Hospital, authorities said.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Center activated the national search and rescue plan “NEARCHOS” at 10:56 a.m. to locate the missing swimmer.
A speedboat from the Port and Marine Police and a vessel from the Larnaca District Administration, along with a lifeguard team, were dispatched to the area.
Lifeguards located the individual and transferred him by ambulance to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
