Over 10,000 hotels across Europe have launched a collective lawsuit against Booking.com, challenging the platform’s long-standing pricing restrictions.
For nearly two decades, the website allegedly prohibited hotels from offering lower rates on their own websites than those listed on its platform—a practice known as “rate parity.”
Last year, the European Court of Justice ruled that such clauses were unlawful under EU competition law.
In response, hotel operators are now seeking compensation for lost revenue dating back to 2004. The legal action is being coordinated across 25+ countries and will be adjudicated in the Netherlands.
