A two‑day academic conference dedicated to renowned critic and scholar Alexis Ziras will take place March 27–28 at the Artos Cultural Centre.
Organized by the Department of Contemporary Culture, the event will bring together academics and researchers who will examine Ziras’ influence on modern Greek and Cypriot literature. Deputy Culture Minister Vasiliki Kassianidou will deliver opening remarks, and Ziras will receive an honorary plaque during the proceedings.
Speakers include Aphrodite Athanasopoulou, Anna Afentoulidou, Pantelis Voutouris, Giorgos Georgis, Kostas Gouliamos, Kostas Lymbouris, Alexandros Bazoukis, Giorgos Myaris, Kostas Nikolaidis, Lefteris Papaleontiou, Nasa Patapiou, Marina Rodosthenous, Vasiliki Selioti and Natia Charalambidou.
The conference opens Friday at 6 p.m. and is free to the public.
Ziras, a prominent critic and literary historian, has held key roles in Greek and Cypriot cultural institutions, including serving as president of the Hellenic Authors’ Society and chair of Greece’s State Literature Prizes Committee. He has written extensively on Cypriot literature and has been honored with multiple awards, including the Jean Moreas Grand Prize in 2020 and an honorary doctorate from Democritus University of Thrace in 2025.
