FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Cyprus will remain under a severe heatwave until next Thursday, with temperatures expected to soar between 42°C and 44°C (107°F–111°F), meteorologists have warned.
Speaking to state radio, meteorological officer Andreas Chrysanthou said the risk of forest fires will be “particularly high” on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday due to extreme heat, low humidity, and strong afternoon winds.
The Forestry Department has urged the public to avoid outdoor activities that could spark fires.
Officials say the combination of dry conditions and gusty winds creates a volatile environment for rapid fire spread.
Relief from the heat is expected to begin gradually on Friday, though authorities remain on high alert.
