FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The number of registered unemployed persons in Cyprus rose slightly in July compared to the previous month, but showed a notable decline from the same period last year, according to data released Tuesday by the Statistical Service.
As of July 31, 2025, a total of 11,088 people were registered as unemployed at District Labour Offices, up from 9,153 in June.
Seasonally adjusted figures showed a smaller increase, rising to 10,081 from 9,947 the previous month.
Compared to July 2024, unemployment fell by 789 people, or 6.6 percent.
Officials attributed the annual decline to improvements in sectors such as education, construction, manufacturing, and financial and insurance activities, as well as a drop in new entrants to the labour market.
