Cyprus authorities have reported 900 documented cases of sexual violence and abuse against children in the past three years, according to Justice and Public Order Minister Marios Harçiotis.
The announcement came during a press conference at the Presidential Palace, where officials presented the latest phase of the National Strategy to combat child abuse. The program is renewed every three years.
Since its establishment in 2017, more than 2,600 reports have been filed with the specialized unit under the Cypriot Police Department. Officials also screened a video featuring a 9-year-old survivor who recounted his experiences, underscoring the urgent need for continued protection efforts.
