Cyprus Weather for Sunday: Clear skies and extreme heat

SUNDAY’S WEATHER: A seasonal low-pressure system and a warm air mass are affecting the area, bringing clear skies and extreme heat.

Today’s weather will be mostly sunny and exceptionally hot. Some localized cloud cover is expected over mountainous areas by midday. Winds in the morning will vary: northeast to southeast across the eastern half of the island, and southwest to northwest elsewhere. Speeds will range from light to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort. By late afternoon, winds will shift generally to southwest to northwest, maintaining similar intensity.

Seas will be calm to slightly choppy.

Temperatures will peak at 43°C (109°F) inland, 37°C (99°F) along the southern, eastern, and northern coasts, and 34°C (93°F) on the western coast and in higher elevations.

Tonight, conditions will remain mostly clear. Winds will be light, primarily northwest to northeast, with some local variability at around 3 Beaufort. Seas will stay calm to slightly choppy. Overnight lows will drop to 27°C (81°F) inland, 26°C (79°F) along the coasts, and 24°C (75°F) in the mountains.

Looking ahead to Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the weather will continue to be mostly sunny and intensely hot. Temperatures are expected to remain stable through midweek, significantly above seasonal averages.

The risk of wildfires remains at red alert level, with heightened danger for ignition and spread.
