FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Health Insurance Organization (HIO) says that beneficiaries of the General Healthcare System (GHS) affected by the Limassol wildfires may access specialist doctors without a referral and free of charge through the end of August.
The policy aims to ease healthcare access for those impacted, waiving the standard €25 fee for visits without a referral. The HIO earlier issued guidance for pharmacies to assist displaced beneficiaries who lost medications or medical supplies during the fires.
Following complaints of bureaucratic delays, the HIO clarified that affected individuals can now immediately receive prescriptions at nearby pharmacies. Pharmacists have been instructed to retrieve blocked prescriptions from the system to ensure uninterrupted access to treatment.
