FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Cyprus’s official population rose by 17,300 in 2023, reaching 966,400, up from 949,100 the previous year, according to data released Friday by the Statistical Service.
Women made up the majority with 490,800, while men totaled 475,600.
People ages 15 to 44 made up the largest demographic group, numbering 403,400. The next largest groups were ages 45 to 64 at 243,800 and those 65 and older at 171,600.
Among all age ranges, the 35-to-39 bracket had the highest count with 81,000, followed by 40 to 44 at 77,200.
The 15-to-44 age group accounted for the bulk of both male and female populations — 204,600 men and 198,800 women.
