US stock markets ended Thursday with a solid decline, and the technology index Nasdaq fell 2.6 percent.
The broader S&P 500 index fell 1.8 percent, while the Dow Jones index ended the day 1 percent lower than when trading began.
The Nasdaq index is now more than 10 percent lower than the record level reached in December.
The stock market decline came despite US President Donald Trump saying he would delay his 25 percent punitive tariff on many goods imported from Canada and Mexico.
