Envoys from Israel, Qatar, and the United States began talks on Thursday on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire, according to a statement from Egypt’s State Information Office.
The negotiators are also discussing ways to strengthen the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, aiming to alleviate the suffering of the population and support regional stability, the statement said.
The start of the talks helps to avert a collapse in the ceasefire, the first phase of which expires on Saturday.
According to the agreement, the ceasefire will remain in place while negotiations on the second phase are ongoing.
