FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – European Union envoy for the Cyprus problem Johannes Hahn is expected to begin his first meetings on the island soon.
Reports indicate Hahn has already started preparations for his work in Cyprus, following his appointment earlier this month.
Hahn, an Austrian politician, previously served as European Commissioner for Budget and Administration, as well as holding roles in European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.
His new position focuses on contributing to the Cyprus settlement process within the United Nations framework.
Meanwhile, UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ personal envoy for Cyprus, María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar, aims to achieve results by the end of July.
Speaking at UN headquarters in New York, Dujarric confirmed Holguín will remain in Cyprus until May 31.
