FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The United Cypriot Hunters Movement in Cyprus plans to block both traffic streams on the Nicosia-Limassol highway near Skarinou at noon today as part of their protest.

Their demands include limiting the uncontrolled licensing of photovoltaic parks in natural habitats, allocating more land for hunting dog training, and enforcing stricter penalties for poaching.

Drivers should anticipate delays and consider alternative routes during this time.

The hunting season is regulated by the Cyprus Game and Fauna Service to ensure sustainable practices and the protection of wildlife. Commonly hunted species include hares, partridges, and thrushes, with specific seasons and quotas set for each. Hunters are required to obtain licenses and adhere to strict guidelines to preserve the island’s natural habitats.
