Europe is stronger when it is built together with its young people, Cyprus Education Minister Athina Michaelidou said Monday after the conclusion of the EU Education Council in Brussels.

Michaelidou said the Council adopted several important decisions in the fields of education and youth. She noted that under the Cypriot EU presidency, particular emphasis has been placed on investing in young people, advancing key commitments through negotiations and cooperation with member states and EU institutions.

European Commission Executive Vice President Roxana Minzatu, responsible for Social Rights and Skills, said the updated EU Youth Strategy and the latest cycle of the EU Youth Dialogue highlight the need for meaningful youth participation in policymaking.

She added that the Commission will present an education package at the end of 2026, including a support program for basic skills in schools with persistently low performance.
