Two wildfires erupted Saturday afternoon in the villages of Tala in Paphos and Lania in the Limassol district, threatening homes and agricultural land.

In Tala, two residences were at risk before firefighters brought the blaze under control. Five fire engines and two aircraft were deployed to contain the flames, which scorched wild vegetation, reeds and dry grass, according to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis.

Meanwhile, in Lania, a separate fire burned a small area of olive and almond trees. Thirty personnel and five fire trucks responded to the scene, managing to prevent further spread.

Authorities said both fires have been contained, with mop-up operations continuing into the evening.
