FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE -Turkish Cypriot police arrested four individuals and seized a handgun and ammunition during a targeted operation in north Nicosia, authorities said last night.
The arrests were part of “Operation Shield,” a law enforcement initiative aimed at curbing criminal activity and maintaining public safety.
Officers from the ‘Crime Prevention Division’ conducted the operation Friday night.
Two suspects, ages 18 and 20, were detained after police found a 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine, and five live rounds in their possession. The weapon was confiscated as evidence.
Following a stakeout, two additional suspects, ages 49 and 40, were arrested for allegedly supplying the firearm and hiding it in a field.
