Police arrested eight people overnight during targeted crime‑prevention operations carried out across urban areas, authorities said Thursday.
The arrests involved cases of illegal possession of property, failure to appear in court, unlawful stay in the Republic, causing grievous bodily harm, impersonation, use of a forged document, obtaining property by false pretenses, reckless driving and resisting arrest.
Police said officers also inspected 23 premises, issuing five citations. More than 380 traffic checks were conducted, resulting in 115 violations, along with four citations for alcohol‑related offenses. One vehicle was impounded as part of a traffic investigation.
Officials said the operations form part of an ongoing nationwide plan aimed at preventing crime and maintaining public order.
