Four Passengers Caught With Large Haul of Untaxed Tobacco at Paphos Airport

Customs officers at Paphos Airport seized a large quantity of untaxed tobacco products found in the luggage of four passengers bound for London.

The group included two men, ages 24 and 25, both British nationals, and two women, ages 22 and 23, from Denmark.

After evaluating information and inspecting their bags, officers discovered more than 200 cartons containing 200 cigarettes each, nearly 200 packs of rolling tobacco at 50 grams each, and eight packs of 20 cigarettes.

None of the products carried the required Greek‑ and Turkish‑language health warnings, security markings or traceability codes, indicating they had not been taxed.

All four were arrested and later released after paying an out‑of‑court settlement totaling €14,500.
