Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s largest aviation hub, recorded a 2.6 percent rise in passenger traffic in 2025, handling about 63.2 million travelers.

The airport strengthened its position as one of Europe’s top hubs, with 94 airlines serving 301 destinations last year. Across all airports managed by Fraport worldwide, passenger numbers rose 5.3 percent to 183.7 million.

Despite the gains, CEO Stefan Schulte said Germany continued to lag behind other European markets, noting that Frankfurt’s passenger volumes remained roughly 10 percent below pre‑pandemic levels in 2025.

Frankfurt’s cargo operations also edged up, increasing 1.1 percent to around 2.1 million metric tons.

Schulte welcomed recent federal relief measures — including a cut to the air passenger tax — as “a first step toward reducing the burden on our industry,” but stressed that “more is needed if Germany is to catch up to the competition.”
