One of the vessels from the international flotilla bound for Gaza has docked at the port of Larnaca, Cyprus, according to government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Mr Letymbiotis said the vessel was carrying 21 people from various countries. Authorities have conducted the necessary checks and are providing consular assistance where required.

The Cypriot government has also ensured that the basic needs of those on board are met, including support for third-country nationals with diplomatic or humanitarian requests.

Mr Letymbiotis said Cyprus acted immediately, prioritising the protection of human life and adherence to international law.

The vessel was part of the Sumud flotilla, a civilian-led initiative aiming to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. The flotilla was intercepted by Israeli forces earlier this week, prompting international concern and protests in several countries, including Cyprus.
