Gender Equality Commissioner Josie Christodoulou has met with a delegation of senior Ukrainian technocrats visiting Cyprus as part of a UN Women‑supported working mission, her office said.
The visit focused on exchanging expertise and reviewing Cyprus’ policies on promoting gender equality at national and EU level.
According to the announcement, the delegation was briefed on the main pillars of Cyprus’ National Strategy for Gender Equality, including cross‑ministerial coordination mechanisms and the advisory role of the National Machinery for Women’s Rights.
Christodoulou highlighted the recent law requiring gender mainstreaming in public policy and the state budget, describing it as a tool for fairer allocation of public resources and more effective policymaking.
The Ukrainian officials also met with representatives of the National Machinery and equality officers from ministries to discuss best practices and strengthen institutional cooperation between the two countries.
