Greece on Wednesday condemned recent drone attacks on civilian vessels linked to Greek interests in the Black Sea, warning that the incidents threaten crew safety and pose risks to the marine environment.
“We condemn the attacks on civilian ships of Greek interests,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lana Zohiou told diplomatic correspondents. She said the Ministry of Maritime Affairs had confirmed that two Greek nationals were aboard one of the targeted vessels and that no injuries were reported.
Zohiou said Greece places strong emphasis on maritime security as a seafaring nation and remains committed to international law and the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea. She added that the foreign minister intends to raise the matter with European partners.
Officials said two Greek‑managed tankers — the MT Matilda and the MT Delta Harmony — were struck by drones while en route to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal.
The circumstances of the attacks are still under investigation, and no group has claimed responsibility.
