An Israeli citizen has been arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran, Israel Police have confirmed.
The suspect, identified as 40‑year‑old Vadim Kuprianov of Rishon LeZion, was detained by an elite police unit in coordination with the Shin Bet domestic security agency, police said in a statement.
According to the statement, Kuprianov was seen photographing the home of former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett as part of alleged contacts with Iranian operatives, who had instructed him to buy a vehicle‑mounted camera for the mission.
Police said that over the past two months, Kuprianov carried out several security‑related tasks, sending photos from various cities to his handlers in exchange for payments.
An indictment will be filed in a central district court once the investigation is completed, police said.
